This particular pocket was situated on the Greenbank Vein and was discovered in June 2021
This pocket is named for the stunning shades of forest green fluorite, initially completely hidden by a thick crust of rusty brown calcite and only revealed once the coating was removed by acid etching in the preparation lab. However, the calcite has protected the fluorite for millions of years, so once removed, the unmasked fluorite is magnificent and completely undamaged, when backlit the crystals reveal remarkable colour zoning, characteristically with a thick forest green outer zone, followed by a bright lemon band surrounding an inner core of gemmy purple – mauve.
The fluorite displays stunning daylight fluorescence, with corners or entire crystals fluorescing intensely bright royal purple or inky violet.
